If I really think about it, I owe so much to Facebook news feed. Not only does it keep me updated with everyone, but with their new share feature, I learn so many new things.
Here’s one of the many things that just left me incredulous. Some friends of mine shared this article talking about a man who played some of Bach’s pieces on his violin for about 45 minutes during rush hour in the Metro station in Washington DC. In that period, an estimated 1,100 people would have passed him by, and surprisingly, only about 20 or so gave him a little time of their day, pausing a bit before hurrying off to their various appointments. Surprisingly, it was only the kids who had to be pulled away from listening by their mothers.
That violinist, is none other than the infamous Joshua Bell.
Kind of gives a new perspective on the fast paced lifestyle we all lead nowadays, doesn’t it? We are so wrapped up in our own little worlds, in our own lives that we sometimes pass these things, these beautiful things by.
So next time, why don’t we stop to appreciate the things around us? It could be something simple like the sunlight hitting the flowers just so, a bright, sunny day or that person playing the piano in the middle of the crowded mall. The possibilities are endless!
Let’s take our cue from the kids. :)
Ciao for now!
